Bacon Mushroom Smash Burger
Ingredients:
16oz / 454g Ground Beef 80/20 mix
2 cheese slices
4 slices of thick-cut bacon
6 mushrooms, chopped
1 tomato, sliced thin
1 onion, sliced
American Prime Beef Rub
Salt to taste (optional)
Black pepper to taste (optional)
Brioche buns
Like all great recipes, this one starts with bacon. First, cook up roughly 3 slices of bacon and save
the grease, and set the bacon to the side will be using this later.
Thinly slice up the sweet onions and sauté in the rendered bacon fat add a pinch of salt Once it
does remove it from heat and set it to the side to cool.
In a medium-size mixing bowl add your ground beef. Next form 6 to 8 ounce balls of ground
beef. We are making the patties this size so we can make a smashed patty.
Using a sheet of wax paper and a paper plate or a baking sheet covered with cold water firmly
pressed down on your beef patties until evenly flat. Repeat the steps until all patties are
formed.
We are going to be cooking at roughly 420° - 500 º. We’re going to cook these for roughly 2-3 minutes
per side or until the internal desired temperature is reached.
Top the beef patties with your favorite kind of cheese. My tip is to coat the outside with a little
bit of butter and some of that leftover bacon fat to really get that great crunchy flavorful
exterior.
Next up it's time to build our burger first add a layer of the onion that we made earlier and lay down
a patty, a few strips of bacon and another patty cut on the diagonal and enjoy.
